2019 World Rowing Coastal Championships
A Bid Committee for the 2019 World Rowing Coastal Championships (WRCC) was struck in mid-2015. After eight months of preparation, a bid to host the WRCC 2019 in Hong Kong was submitted to FISA in February 2016. The Bid Committee is leading by Allan BELL, with members Mark WELLES, Martin REYNOLDS, Michael NG, Irene OR, Keith CHEUNG, Cally WILLIAMS, NG Kong Wan, Brian HENDERSON and Mike TANNER. The WRCC were first held in Mandelieu, France in 2007 and have been held annually since with growing support and participation from around the world. The 2015 WRCC was held in Lima, Peru, the first time outside of Europe. In 2016 the Championships will be held in Monaco, in 2017 in France, and in 2018 in Sarasota, USA.
The Bid Committee will confirm the signing of event agreement with FISA within this month, i.e. August and to confirm if Hong Kong will host the WRCC 2019; at the same time, the Bid Committee also soliciting commercial sponsorship proactively in order to support the organization of the WRCC 2019. The organization of WRCC in Hong Kong will definitely bring a lot of advantages for promoting the Coastal Rowing in Asia regions.
