Mission and Vision

The Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) was established in 1978 and is the governing body for the sport of rowing in Hong Kong. It is affiliated with the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, as well as the Asian Rowing Federation (ARF) and the World Rowing (WR).

The HKCRA operates two rowing centres along the Sha Tin Shing Mun River in Sha Tin. They are the Jockey Club Sha Tin Rowing Centre and the Jockey Club Shek Mun Rowing Centre, located in Fo Tan and at Shek Mun respectively. Most Hong Kong rowing clubs are based at these two Centres for regular training and competitions. The Jockey Club Sha Tin Rowing Centre also serves as the official headquarters and administrative office of the Association.

The HKCRA has initiated and organized different types of promotion and development programmes and activities including the “Youth Development Programme”, the “Para-rowing Programme”, the “Indoor Rowing for Schools Programme” and “Coastal Rowing Activities”, aiming to expand the sport of rowing at the community level for different groups of people, with the ultimate goal making rowing an accessible and popular sport for all.

Hong Kong Team

Introduction

Since 1997, rowing has been a key development sport in Hong Kong, receiving funding from the government’s Elite Sports Program. Over the past two decades, the Hong Kong Rowing Team has achieved remarkable results in international events such as the Asian Games, Asian Championships, East Asian Games, and World Junior Rowing Championships.

The success of the Hong Kong Rowing Team is due to the athletes’ hard work and determination, as well as the government’s support for the athletes. In the future, the Hong Kong Rowing Team will continue to strive for excellence and hopes to achieve more remarkable results on the international stage, contributing to the development of rowing in Hong Kong.

Looking ahead, the Hong Kong Rowing Team will continue to maintain high morale and endeavour to enhance its technical level and competitiveness. We look forward to achieving further success in the international arena, further promoting the development and of rowing in Hong Kong, and inspiring more young people to participate in this challenging and passionate sport. The future of Hong Kong rowing is something we can all look forward to!

Youth Academy Overview

Introduction

Hong Kong Rowing Youth Academy

The “Hong Kong Rowing Youth Academy” (HKRYA) organized by the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) is one of the continuous development and training programs under the subvention from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Any youngsters recruited and pass the test via the HKRYA’s selection day will be recommended to join the HKRYA. The HKRYA aims to further improve the rowing skills and physical fitness level of youngsters through systematic training to reach the level of the Hong Kong Junior Rowing Team, and then promote to Hong Kong Sports Institute to become a scholarship athlete.
