HKCRA AFFILIATED CLUBS
Club Introduction
In the early stages of its development, only 5 rowing clubs were affiliated with the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association. These were the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Hong Kong Police Rowing Club, Island School, Hong Kong University Faculty and Staff Union and Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Handicapped. Along with the development of the Association, an increasing number of people have taken up rowing, and to date, the number of affiliated clubs has increased to 30, establishing rowing as a popular sport in Hong Kong.
Objectives of The Clubs’ Development
- To promote and develop rowing to increase its popularity;
- To raise the standard of rowing by providing rowers with quality training and continuous activities;
- To organize and take part in rowing competitions;
- To organize activities for members to foster connections among them; and
- To formulate constitutions for the club, maintain the committee cadre and carry out the clubs’ affairs.

Application to Join as HKCRA Affiliated Club
Please complete the affiliated club application form and submit it together with the following documents to HKCRA.
- Updated Constitution;
- Full List of Committee Members;
- Brief Background of the Club, including the number of members;
- Proof for registration under the Societies Ordinance;
- Proposed competition uniform pattern colour and design;
- Programme plan for the Club for the year of application;
- Annual Subscription Club fee of HK$1,500 to be paid upon receipt of the invoice
Other terms and conditions:
- We do not have any arrangements or policies in place for waiving fees. All applicable fees must be paid in accordance with our standard procedures.
- Clubs may withdraw their club affiliation by notifying HKCRA via email at clubs@rowing.org.hk. Upon receipt of the notice, HKCRA will respond and confirm the effective date of withdrawal within 15 working days. Please note that no redundancy arrangements will be made for any withdrawal.
- HKCRA will observe new clubs for a period of 1 to 3 years, during which we will closely monitor their performance. This observation period allows us to assess their development and integration within the association. Based on the progress and contributions of these clubs, adjustments to their membership levels may be made as appropriate, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
- If a member’s or club’s conduct causes harm to other members or to HKCRA, or in any situation deemed detrimental to HKCRA, HKCRA shall have the right to expel the member or club in accordance with the principles of equality, transparency, proportionality, non-discrimination, and objectivity, and reserves the right to take any appropriate actions.
