2018 Asian Rowing Coastal Championships is about to begin
The first ever Asian Rowing Coastal Championships (ARCC) presented by CMMB Vision Holdings Limited will be in Hong Kong from 23 to 25 November 2018 at Victoria Harbour with more than 200 participants from eight countries and regions to take part including Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
ARCC is open to national teams and also a club crew while Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Hong Kong are sending their National/Regional Rowing Teams to compete in Hong Kong.
Coastal Rowing becomes popular among Asian and all over the world. It is different from the traditional flat water rowing because crews can row in open water with more exciting elements. There are altogether six events included Singles, Doubles and Coxed Quad in both Men and Women. Hong Kong will send its strong squad members including 2018 Asian Games rowing medalists, LEE Ka Man, CHIU Hin Chun, LEUNG Chun Shek, etc to race.
The ARCC is sanctioned by the Asian Rowing Federation and organized by the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) as one of the Major Local International Events. Next year, Hong Kong will stage the 2019 World Rowing Coastal Championships (WRCC) again at our beautiful Victoria Harbour as the city backdrop for the race, therefore, ARCC will be a test event for the HKCRA to run an event outside the Shing Mun River, where is the flat water rowing base.
