Preventive Measures for the Super Typhoon “Mangkhut” “山竹”
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, Super Typhoon “Mangkhut”(“山竹”) will move across the western North Pacific and intensify further in the next few days, and may well have Hong Kong in its sights by this weekend. The associated heavy rain, squalls and storm surge may pose threat to Hong Kong, particularly the coastal and low-lying areas.
Due to the threat of inclement weather impinging on the safety and normal operations of two rowing Centres, our staff will carry out the preventive measures at two Rowing Centres, while all the rowing courses (included Clubs Courses), trainings and any activities at Rowing Centres will be cancelled starting from today (12 Sept) until further notice. The Jockey Club Shek Mun Rowing Centre will be closed on 13 Sept and 14 Sept while the Sha Tin Rowing Centres will remain normal operations hours except typhoon number 8 is hoisted; the Rowing Centres will be closed accordingly.
Although the HKCRA will assist the Clubs to tie their boats located at outdoor but we cannot guarantee the safety of the boats and other stuffs under unpredictable typhoon conditions, therefore, all Clubs are encouraged to secure their own stuffs storing at both Rowing Centres.
For any rowing courses reschedule arrangements, we will handle on Monday (17 Sept) and please contact our Assistant Sports Executive, Ms Amy LO at 2699-7271 on that.
