ROWSport Hong Kong Indoor Rowing Championships & Charity Rowathon 2018 Four NEW Hong Kong Indoor Rowing Championships Records Broken!

Organized by the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association, subvented by the Home Affairs Bureau(Arts & Sport Development Fund) and supported by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the ROWSport Hong Kong Indoor Rowing Championships & Charity Rowathon 2018 was concluded successfully over the weekend on 10 and 11 March at Kowloon Park Sports Center. More than 1,000 participants joined in these two days, including the athletes from Singapore and Macau. All participants and rowers enjoyed the excitement and atmosphere of the Championships very much.

Each rower had strived for their best results in the two days intensive competitions. A new event “Family Fun Relay” attracted eight families to take part as we would like to use this event to echo the theme of “Everybody Rows”.  This was the 2nd year to have “1-minute Ergo Challenge” and the number of participants was increased and we are glad to have the Fitness First Hong Kong as the title sponsor of this event. The highlight on Sunday’s race was the Lightweight Men’s Individual 2000m (aged 19-29), the Hong Kong Rowing Team Members had an intensive race and the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals were went to CHAN Chi Fung, gold medalist of the 2017 Asian Rowing Cup, 2016 Olympics Duo CHIU Hin Chun and TANG Chiu Mang respectively. For the traditional “Top of the Tops” 4x500m team relay, the Men’s Champion was to Hong Kong Fire Services Department and Women’s Champion was Lam Tai Fai College!

Meanwhile, three new Hong Kong Indoor Rowing new records were set with one of these was broken by LEE Ka Man, the Hong Kong Rowing Team Members.  The records are listed as follow: –

To deliver our social responsibility, a total of $43,818 entry fee generated from the Charity events was donated to this year’s beneficiary, “SAHK” to encourage people with disabilities to actively take part in sports activities.
