The 5th Hong Kong Coastal Rowing Championships (HKRCC) cum Ranking Race for the 2018 Asian Rowing Coastal Championships (ARCC)

Surrounded by the sea, Hongkongers have been enjoying the fun in the sea with various forms of water sports activities. Coastal Rowing is a safe and fast developing water sport which brings Hongkonger an alternative way to experience the fun around the coastline of Hong Kong.

 

The 5th Hong Kong Coastal Rowing Championships was held in the Middle Island at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s (RHKYC) premises on 20th October 2018 (rescheduled from 23rd September 2018 due to the Super Typhoon Mangkhut). The Championships, consisting of Junior and Open categories and a total of eight events, attracted 13 local rowing club to participate. 140 participants competed under nice weather in a 2.5km and 3.5km racing course around Middle Island respectively, which seats between Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay.

 

Jakarta Asian Games Silver Medallist, CHIU Hin Chun, today represented Lok Tsui Rowing Club to partner with CHAN Yuk Man to win the Men’s Open Coastal Doubles Sculls by finishing the 3.5km race in 14 minutes 0.5 seconds.

 

All local elite rowing crews in the Open events today tried their best to flight for the best time to get a higher rank for competing with the rowing teams around Asia in the ARCC during 23rd to 25th November 2018 in Victoria Harbour.

 

The Championships concluded with a medal presentation at the late evening with sun shining over a lot of smiling faces.

 

The 5th Hong Kong Coastal Rowing Championships cum Ranking Race for the 2018 Asian Rowing Coastal Championships was organized by the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association, co-organized by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and subvented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department.
