Nearly 150 Rowing Boats on Shing Mun River to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association Big Rowing Day on 1 May
Over 500 rowers joined the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) under the sunshine and gentle breeze along the Shing Mun River today.
The Big Rowing Day was the kickoff event of the 40th anniversary and concluded successfully with the great support of so many past and present rowers. A Big Boat Parade down the river to the Sha Tin Rowing Centre was headed by Hong Kong Rowing Olympians. Pacing Crews included LEE Ka Man (2008, 2016), LEE Yuen Yin (2016), TANG Chiu Mang (2016), CHIU Hin Chun (2016), LEUNG Chun Shek (2012), LOK Kwan Hoi (2012), CHOW Kwong Wing (2008), SO Sau Wah (2004, 2008, 2012), LO Ting Wai (2004), Michael TSE (1996), HO Kim Fai (1992), LUI Kam Chi (1992) and CHIANG Yun Kuen (1992), plus coming Asian Games Medal Hopes: CHAN Tik Lun, James WONG Pak Yan, YUEN Yun Lam, WONG Wai Kin, WONG Sheung Yee, LOO Ka Fu, HUI Wing Ki and Winne HUNG Wing Yan.
At today’s event, the HKCRA unveiled its new branding strategy and the new logo as well as the establishment of a “Next Generation Fund”. The HKCRA would like to take this chance to raise funds through various campaigns and donations with the purpose of supporting the development of rowing for our future generations of rowers. The new branding with the tagline “Passion to Go beyond” and the strategic plan “LEAD 2020” are also published.
Mr. Timothy T. T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and the Hon MA Fung Kwok, SBS, JP, member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong were our officiating guests in the event to officially start the Boat Parade.
