Remembering NG See Hung
It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of NG See Hung on 16th Jan 2024 due to illness.
See Hung was a long-time member and great friend of the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) and contributed in many ways to the promotion and development of rowing over his many years of involvement. He was a well-recognized face for several generations of rowers at the Rowing Centres and at competition events.
In Hong Kong, See Hung was a Level 3 Coach and a registered Umpire. He was a member of the HKCRA Umpiring Commission, Para Rowing Commission and Coaching Commission and at Asian level he served as a member of the Asian Rowing Federation Para Rowing Committee. He was a very active and well respected World Rowing International Umpire, first gaining his badge in Naganuma, Japan in 1999 and subsequently officiating as an Umpire at 2 World Rowing U-19 Championships, 2 World Rowing Championships, 1 World Rowing Masters Regatta, 1 World Rowing Coastal Championships and at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He was also a regular official at Asian Rowing Championships and Asian Games.
See Hung has always demonstrated a passion for the development and advancement of rowing and was a respected mentor for many young people who were involved in the sport in Hong Kong.
During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with See Hung’s family and loved ones. May they find comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will endure in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. The loss we feel today is shared by the entire rowing community, not only in Hong Kong but also by all those who knew him through Asian and International rowing in so many countries around the world.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
With deepest sympathies,
Hong Kong, China Rowing Association
