Message from the Chairman
Dear Members and Rowing Friends,
On behalf of the Board, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt wishes for a healthy, happy, and successful Year of the Dragon to you and your families.
The Hong Kong Amateur Rowing Association (now Hong Kong, China Rowing Association) was established in 1978, and we proudly adopted the dragon with crossed rowing oars as our logo. The dragon represented more than just a symbol; it embodied the spirit of energy, life, and harmony that we aimed to bring to the sports community. I still remember how teams from around the world found our uniforms with the dragon logo particularly attractive during our overseas competitions. These events provided us with valuable opportunities to foster international exchanges and cultivate lasting friendships. Through rowing, we have not only pursued excellence in performance but also learned to respect differences and build strong bonds with our opponents.
While our elite rowers continue their relentless pursuit of qualifying positions for the Paris Olympic Games in April in Chungju, our development and elite coaching teams are equally committed to nurturing new talent and ensuring their success at various levels. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for promising individuals to flourish and make their mark in our sport.
We also extend a warm invitation to teams from around the world to join us in Hong Kong this Year of the Dragon and experience the vibrant energy of our city. We have a series of exciting local and international events planned throughout 2024/2025, including the thrilling Hong Kong Rowing Indoor Championship in Feb 2024 and March 2025, highly anticipated International Masters Regatta in April, the prestigious Hong Kong Rowing Championship in Nov.
We value the support and engagement of our local community, and we are pleased to welcome anyone who would like to try rowing at our centres in Shatin and at other locations around Hong Kong. Individuals, clubs, schools, universities, corporate teams, NGOs, disciplined services, and others are all welcome to share our “Passion to go Beyond”.
Thank you for your continued support, and we eagerly look forward to an eventful and fulfilling year ahead.
Best regards,
Fay Ho Kim Fai, OLY
